Cannington Mine could be a fly-in fly-out mine and process operation. Cannington initial opened in the late nineteen nineties and has since become the world’s largest and lowest price, producer of silver and lead.
Cannington Mine is located about eight hundred kilometers south-west of Townsville, that is 2 hundred and fifty kilometers south-east of Mt Isa. In nineteen 89 once an in-depth aerial magnetic survey was conducted, it had been found that there was a major deposit of silver, lead, Zn and magnetic iron-ore. The processes of measure and sampling then continued and also the mine was commissioned in nineteen 1997. but it had been not till 2 years later in nineteen 99 that the mine had full production beneath way.
There are four varieties of minerals at Cannington, silver, lead, zinc and magnetic iron-ore(which could be a magnetic mineral). but only silver, lead and zinc are formally mined . Cannington is an underground mine that is accessed through a decline ramp from the surface. Cannington mine uses ways of underground mining, to extract its ore, the most one being long hole open stope mining. Underground mining is completed once the ore body is just too deep to a lower place on the surface or when employing a completely different mining technique, such open-cut mining would destroy the surrounding surface land too much.
